Price: £
Description: Provence, in the south-eastern region of France is known for its sun-drenched lavender and olive groves, and this original signed pastel by Lionel Aggett beautifully captures the landscape. Lionel Aggett (1938 - 2009) was a landscape painter, muralist, architect and writer. He was born in Whiddon Down, Devon and educated at Exeter School. Looking through recently sold artworks by this artist, his drawings of the French countryside in pastel appear to be the most popular and are starting to command steady and respectable sums when they come on the market. His artistic training and command of this medium is plain to see. Lionel was an artist who could convey distance and perspective with ease and transport the viewer to this much-loved area of France - you can almost feel the heat and hear the rhythmic buzz of the cicadas. Here are the measurements of the frame - 57 cm high x 69 cm wide and the art work itself measures approx. 37.5 cm high x 50 cm wide.
