Description:   This iconic and much-loved 1960s cream-coloured Anglepoise desk lamp (Model 1227) by Herbert Terry is in good original condition. As you would expect there are minor signs of wear - minor flecks of paint missing and some limited surface pitting to the chrome. However, Anglepoise lamps from this period are rarely found in such a good state of preservation. This lamp has been re-wired in a sympathetic manner and safety tested. In 1933, the British Designer George Carwadine turned to spring makers Herbert Terry & Sons to manufacture the first Anglepoise lamp, the four-spring Model 1208. It was intended to be used within working environments, such as workshops, and doctors & dentists' surgeries. By 1935, the three-spring Model 1227 was in production for the home market, and with the current increase in demand for mid-century interiors, these stylish lamps are finding their way back into our day-to-day lives.
