Oak pedestal desk in the Gothic style

Price: £

Description: Gothic inspired 19th Century desks often have an elegant simplicity that complement both contemporary and period interiors - this example is particularly pleasing to the eye. Firstly, its well designed - It will happily sit against a wall, although the cabinet maker has cleverly softened the look of the desk's back, by repeating the canted corners and oak plinth, as well as applying mouldings to simulate three drawer fronts. These refinements make the reverse just as attractive as the front and encourage you to place it in a more central position. Secondly, its in wonderful original condition, retaining all of its original handles and Victorian locks (working with key supplied) and the oak is warm, uniform and pleasing in colour. Lastly we have sympathetically restored this desk to a high standard, replacing its writing surface with a hand coloured top quality hide which has been decorated in tooled gold leaf. This antique Gothic desk stands at the recommended height for comfortable working. Measurements of knee hole - 49 cm wide (above plinth) x 61.5 cm high Overall measurements - 124 cm wide x 77 cm high x 68.5 cm deep
