Description: This striking and versatile walnut table epitomizes the luxurious and ornamental style characteristic of the Art Deco period, also referred to as Style Moderne or Jaz Moderne, prevalent during the 1920s and early 1930s. This piece was constructed to an exemplary standard during the interwar years. It reflects a time when skilled cabinet making was widely practiced and esteemed, drawing inspiration from the design books and periodicals of that era. Now, after some sensitive restoration and refinishing, the full visual impact of the well-chosen walnut that decorates this attractive and stylish single drawer table (lockable with key supplied) can once again be seen – we felt the odd historic pen and ink marks to the interior of the drawer were a distraction, so we have traditionally lined it out with a sympathetic grey sugar paper on card.
