Antique wheel or banjo barometer – rosewood, inlaid with mother of pearl

Price: £425.00

Description: This antique wheel or banjo barometer was made by D.Gugeri of Boston, Lincolnshire (Circa 1840). Dominic Gugeri is listed as a watch, clock and barometer maker, and was active between 1815 to 1845. This very attractive barometer has been sympathetically restored within the last 40 years and is in good working order. Its case is decorated in rosewood with intricate mother of pearl inlay. The engraved and silvered barometer and thermometer dials are in good condition, as is the original mother of pearl adjusting knob, that turns the responsive fretted pointer. As you can see from the photographs of the reverse, the barometer is currently set up to be transported. Its Mercury appears to be clean and free of air bubbles. A lovely example of an early Victorian wheel or banjo barometer. Measurements - height 102 cm x width 33 cm x depth 8.5 cm.
