Description: Antique banker's desk lamps are becoming difficult to find, especially if they retain, as in this Edwardian brass example, their original lacquered surface, green glass shade, and fitments. Of course, after a hundred years of handling, this delicate protective layer of tinted lacquer becomes worn and discoloured, the shade has attracted a few minor imperfections, and the bass supports are not so uniformly shaped as they once were. However, these exentiricities, add to a lamp's character and visual appeal. Desk lamps provide not only a subtle source of light within the study but also a focal point for building a period or contemporary interior setting. This lamp has been rewired using a sympathetic-coloured braided cord and safety tested. The measurements, including the shade, are 47cm high x 24 cm wide x 19 cm deep (the diameter of the base on its own is 15.5 cm).
