A fine Victorian walnut show frame armchair (in need of re-upholstery)
Price: £235.00
Description: If you are looking for a sumptuous fireside chair to re-upholster this winter then this high Victorian example may suit your needs. As you can see, the frame of this walnut spoon-back chair is beautifully carved. The Victorians knew a thing or two about ergonomics, so it's also very comfortable. Apart from its top cover, the current upholstery is still very firm and well-defined. To help minimise costs and time, I think you will be able to keep a large percentage of the current traditional horsehair upholstery in place. The frame itself is structurally sound, however, in the swirl of carvings that decorate one of the arms there is a very minor and historically repaired split to the walnut. It is the width of your thumb, hardly noticeable, and during restoration can be lost to the eye completely. A super period chair that needs some tender loving care to bring it back to its full glory. Overall measurements are 100 cm high x 82 cm deep x 69 cm wide, and the measurements of the seat are - 49 cm side x 52 cm deep.
