A fine George III mahogany partners desk
Price: £4250.00
Description: This George III mahogany partners desk, circa 1800, represents the exemplary craftsmanship and distinctive attributes associated with this esteemed period of furniture-making. Originally intended to accommodate two individuals working face-to-face, the double-sided design now enables more flexible placement within a room, thereby lending distinction and presence to a study or office. Today, such desks are highly regarded by those seeking ample workspace within a refined and historically significant piece. This desk has been restored to our high standard, with careful preservation of the mahogany's rich tones. The new full-hide leather writing surface was crafted, coloured, and tooled by a leading workshop to match the pattern of the desk’s brass handles. The oak-lined drawers are constructed with finely cut dovetail joints, and most come with sections for adjustable oak dividers. The brass and steel locks on the drawers and cupboards have been serviced, function properly, and come with keys. A common question is whether the desk offers enough legroom. This partner’s desk has a slightly higher kneehole, providing comfortable seating for long work sessions. A lovely antique desk that is now ready to be used and enjoyed for many years to come. Measurement of kneehole 50 cm wide x 62 cm high.
