1920s oak bookcase of pleasing proportions
Price: £875.00
Description: This 1920s oak bookcase, with its glazed top and cupboard base, is perfectly proportioned to sit within a smaller property. Finely constructed from well-chosen solid oak, its once rich tones have now mellowed, leaving a very appealing warm surface colour. This softness is extenuated by the cabinet makers use of half round glazing bars, moulded panels to the doors and fluted decoration to the cornice. Its brass handles and working locks are original, as are its fine solid oak shelves, which even after 100 years of use remain straight and supportive. This attractive bookcase separates into two and was sourced from a local Surrey estate, having been previously owned by a bibliophile and bookbinder. It was one of eight bookcases we purchased within the property. It has been sympathetically restored and is ready to be used and enjoyed. Measurements - 190 cm high x 42 cm deep x 91 cm wide.
